At Home POTS Test

POTS TEST

Insurance for many is a luxury. While formal autonomic is testing important to understand the type of dysautonomia someone has, you can also do a simple test at home to see if you may have POTS. This at home “tilt test” will give you an idea if you may have POTS, as well as give you information you can take to your doctor to aid in possible diagnosis. 

INSTRUCTIONS: 

This test is best performed first thing in the morning before you have drank or eaten anything.

TOOL NEEDED:

Smart watch or a simple pulse oximeter

 

 

Steps: 

1. Lay totally flat for 10 minutes. (The easiest way is to begin the test before you get out of bed, since you are already lying down). 

2.Take your heart rate and enter int into the first box below (lying down HR).

3. Sit up. 

4. Stand up. 

5. Track your HR over 10 mins. Put your peak heart rate into the second box below (Standing HR). 

6. Press the calculate button. 

7. Print your results to take to your physician.
